I went in the late 90's a couple of times, it's been stuck in my mind.

I was a dancer there in the early 1980s. The stuff about "repectful to the dancers" was not entirely accurate. I was still under 21 back then (18 was legal) and working as a go-go dancer to survive after my mother threw me out. I was actually a "real" dancer (many years of training in ballet, jazz and contemporary) just trying to hang on and survive until I could launch a real performing career (which I eventually did thought I wasn't ever a star.) What I remember is that, after a few months, they stopped booking me because I wasn't "friendly." ("Friendly" was code for letting the customers molest you.)

Great dive. Spent many an hour there in the mid 90s.
